Nancy Hinz
United States Dressage Federation Bronze, Silver and Gold Medalist
Beginning in 1991, Nancy was the full-time instructor and trainer at Madoc Farm in Willis, TX. She has competed at all levels, training through Grand Prix. In Florida Nancy showed the Welsh Cob Stallion Kentchurch Chime up to Grand Prix, including the Grand Prix Freestyle where Nancy and Chime were always the crowd favorites. Nancy also competed locally in Texas with her own as well as client’s horses and has received a number of Region 9 Championship awards. In addition to her own competitive endeavors, she was the organizer and trainer of the Madoc Dressage Club Quadrille. Nancy had 10 junior riders between the ages of 9 and 16 that performed quadrille demonstrations at recognized shows in the Houston area. The group was featured in an article in Dressage Today Magazine.
Nancy works well with junior riders and adults. She enjoys teaching and encouraging confidence in riders of all levels. She takes great care in seeing that the horse and rider become a cooperative team. Using different exercises, she builds on the basics to help the beginning as well as the advanced rider improve their horse by improving their own skills.
From September of 2001 through October of 2003 Nancy was the full-time barn manager/rider for Foster Meadow Farm in Boscawen, New Hampshire. Here she trained with Grand Prix rider Pamela Goodrich. Nancy was also one of the grooms for the United States Equestrian Team that brought home the gold medal from the 2003 Pan American Games in the Dominican Republic. After the games, Nancy had the opportunity to spend two months in Germany working as a groom for one of the US riders at Klaus Balkenhol’s barn.
Nancy’s national and international experience has made her a valuable addition to the Texas dressage scene. She is very active in the North American Junior/Young Rider program and has had students make the Region 9 Team and compete at the NAYC nine times. Nancy’s own horse, Collector’s Item, competed at the 2007 National Young Horse Championships for six-year-olds and then again in 2009 at the USEF Developing Horse Championships. In 2011 her 13-year-old student Allison Cyprus won the National FEI Pony Championship held at the Festival of Champions in Gladstone, NJ. In November of 2015 Nancy earned the title of National Third Level Champion at the U.S. Dressage Final in Lexington, Kentucky on Carzanola. In 2019 Nancy and Carzanola placed 4th at the US Final in the Intermediaire 1 Freestyle. Carzanola, otherwise known as Champ, started off the 2020 show season with his Grand Prix debut! Nancy purchased Carzanola as a two-year-old and was responsible for all of the training.
Nancy is the owner of her own training facility in Montgomery, TX. Yellow Rose Dressage is a full-service training barn that is focused on developing horses and riders for regional, national and international competitions.
